ADIRONDACK GUIDE
In 1953 I was in Conniglios Barber Shop, in my old New Orleans neighborhood known
as the Irish Channel, and saw this painting for the first time in a sporting magazine .
It was truly a life changing experience as I was 14 years old and this was the first time I
started to think about becoming an artist. It has always been my lifetime dream to paint this
and 51 years later this has become a reality. I learned more copying this Winslow Homer
painting than any single lesson in my life. I highly recommend it to you as a great learning
experience in advanced watercolor.

ROMAN WINDOW
While visiting Rome several years ago I discovered the similarity of the architecture due to the
earthquake codes. I found a lot of the facades, windows and floral arrangements to be the
most interesting part of my observations. I took the picture above while moving in a bus and
it included a large door below it and other aspects of the building. I sized it to emphasize my center of
interest and was happy with the final result. It was done on a full size sheet of watercolor paper and executed
loosely. It took me about 2 hours to complete it and is a great learning experience in foliage, shutters
and old textured buildings.
Each lesson can be purchased at the price of
$24.95 (including tax), plus $5 for shipping and handling.
