Geri Heurtin is a Baton Rouge
native. She was greatly influenced to pursue her art
by her lifetime exposure to the work of her mother, Frances Vann, who
faithfully
painted throughout her entire life. She and her mother started
attending the
Baton Rouge Fine Arts Academy together in 1975, mastering the classical
techniques of the "Old Masters".
Geri works in multiple mediums, oils, watercolor, egg-tempera and
gouache.
Her favorite is pencil sketching, which is the cornerstone of her
paintings.
She has painted a great variety of subjects throughout her
career.
Recently she started focusing on Civil War Art, using egg-tempera as her
primary medium. Geri is an equestrarian and has competed in cutting
for the last few years. Her pencil work on this subject is outstanding
resulting in many commissions from fellow horse lovers. Geri
