KITTY REED McGARR GALLERY

1960 - 2009
Kitty Reed Mcgarr was a Baton Rouge native and first became acquainted with the BRFAA in 1974 as a
young student. Her family, fortunately, recognized her talent and bought her first set of
oils when she was six years of age. Her parents wisely sought out professional training for her
when she was in High School. She was one of the first students to complete my course and has
continued to be associated with the Academy till she passed. She worked in all mediums
fluently and handled all subject matter professionally. Her work is represented in many private
collections and she did portrait and landscape commissions in all mediums.
Her specialty was pencil portraits of children and pets and was likewise proficient in oils, watercolors and
pastels. Kitty has extensive experience in the sale and execution of Old Masters and Renaissance Era
paintings. She was in the process of writing and illustrating a book on her ancestral heritage titled
" IRELAND - The Dream That Leads My Hand". The following images will manifest the quality of her work.
Kitty resided in Baton Rouge with her two children Taylor and Flynn who are pursuing their career
choices. Any inquiries can be made through the contact link of the Academy below.
